Daniel Madrid was built to fight. Regardless of the era in which he was born, he would have excelled in battle. And he uses it for the good. With many championships pro fights under his belt

He's also a proud family man and one of the best kid coaches I've ever seen. Along with his business partner Mario, wife Nora and their team they run Legion MMA in North Phoenix.

Recently retired, Daniel sat down with me to share his journey. AND we made a beer! Jean Claude Bandana is a thirst-kicking Pilsner available now at Simple Machine Brewing

A true legend to any fan of late-90's/early-2000's punk rock, Emily Whitehurst cut her teeth on the edge. She is now the solo artist behind Survival Guide. Her danceable tunes are somewhat like a birthday cake: alternating layers of Depeche Mode, Metric, Peter Gabriel and Grimes, with strong melodies and vocals being the icing on top. A California native who now resides in Texas, Whitehurst is currently crafting her second full-length album as Survival Guide (though the fifth of her career).

Join in as Simple Machine Brewing owner/brewer Marshall Norris and I sit down with Emily. We explore her 2+ decade-long rockstar journey and she plays us some songs. Enjoy!

HUGE thank you to Double Helix Records for making this possible. Double Helix is an Arizona-based indie music label bringing that good noise to your ear holes, especially on vinyl!

Coming up this Saturday, November 12th, Salt River Fields will put on one of the greatest beer festivals in all of the land. Arizona Barrels, Bottles & Brews brings the best creators of adult beverages in our state to one spot. This year I got to make a dry-hopped hazy IPA called "7th Inning Quench" for the event alongside Salt River Fields, Simple Machine Brewing, and Brewery 602. The beer will also be available in cans at the brewery (label design by yours truly. MLB, please don't sue me).

This episode features Shaun Northrup from Salt River Fields, Marcus Pina from Brewery 602 and Marshall and Coly from Simple Machine. You don't want to miss this festival or this beer. Get your tickets here!
